As banks are closing, recession beating and jobless people searching for scraps of food to feed their families, what can you do if you have just been retrenched with a few months worth of pay? Looking at the current market situation, it is best to park your money where the government gurantees it. Depending on where you are, parking your money in a Fixed Deposit account or Savings (guranteed by the government, of course, insurance is also risky) can be a safe resolution for you to keep your money.
Also, if you fear that the country you reside is going to have a giant dip in currency value, it is also a wise option to park your money in overseas fixed deposits of reputable banks with gurantees from the government( e.g. Australia) ans so that the value of your money will rise even though your current currency is falling. Another advantage of this is also that if you by the currency at its low, your money will appreciate through the rising of the currency's value. The fixed deposit rate for overseas fixed deposits is also much higher, depending on the market situation, but always better than national fixed deposits.
