If you are building a house, however, it might be wise to invest in heat-trapping insulation such as loft insulation for roofs or polystyrene bead insulation. Insulation can cut your heating costs by up to half of the original, giving you 72 extra on spending.

Air conditioning usually runs on 1 kilowatt per hour per unit. An average household would need two air-conditioners. Rounding of the amount of time they would use it in a year would be approximately 4 months, considering we may use it irregularly during spring or autumn. 1 kilowatt costs 10 cents per hour. On average we would use it 5 hours a day in summer. It would then cost 50 cents a day to operate. A week would take up 3.50 and a month will leave you 15 less. A year would cost 60. Opting to open up windows and using fans instead of air-conditioning can save you the bulk on your air-conditioning bills by up to two-thirds saving you 40 dollars.
